Bible in a year

At New Nation Church, Shrewsbury, we really value the Bible as the living, active and authoritative Word of God. We know that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can come to know and understand God as we delve deeper into His Word. Ephesians 1: 17-19a tells us "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe."

In 2026, we want to encourage you to delve deeper into the Word of God through reading The Bible In A Year so that you grow in your knowledge of God! Here are two options we strongly endorse.

The Bible recap

The Bible Recap (TBR) follows a chronological Bible reading plan and is a short daily recap by creator and host, Tara-Leigh Cobble. She’ll highlight and summarise that day’s Bible reading in a casual, easy-to-understand way.

The Bible Recap comes in several forms—book, podcast, or video. Each day’s Bible reading is approximately 12 minutes long and each recap is about 8 minutes long. Everything you need to get started is below. You can READ, UNDERSTAND, and LOVE the Bible!

The Bible with Nicky and Pippa Gumbel is ideal for anyone who is looking for an easy and accessible way to read and understand the Bible.

Each day includes passages from a Psalm or Proverb, the New Testament and the Old Testament along with a daily commentary from Nicky and Pippa Gumbel, former leaders of  Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) Church in London and pioneers of Alpha.

You can follow along by reading the text or listening to the audio commentary and you can choose the version that best suits your lifestyle; the Classic version (25 minutes), or a shorter Express or Youth version (both around 15 minutes).
